Google initially launched the .new extension to be used as shortcuts for its private firms. For occasion, to create a new doc or a spreadsheet, it’s possible you’ll merely go to .doc or .sheets.

Now, any agency can register a .new space to create associated shortcuts for his or her very personal decisions, and a few companies have already started doing so. Here are some examples which have been created already:

  • Word.new: Create a new doc in Microsoft Word
  • Playlist.new: Create a new Spotify playlist
  • Sell.new: Create a new product itemizing on eBay
  • Link.new: Create a new fast hyperlink with Bitly
  • Reservation.new: Make a reservation with OpenTable
    And others

Google notes that, associated to its .app, .internet web page, and .dev extensions, all .new extensions could be served over HTTPS by default.

Registrations of .new domains could be discovered first to trademark householders for a restricted time. From December 2, 2019 to January 14, 2020, trademark householders can apply for his or her trademarked .new domains.

Presumably, all obtainable .new domains could be up for grabs after the restricted registration interval.
